On the Buses!

Stockport Volleyball Club (‘the S’PORT’) has received much acclaim and publicity since our branded buses courtesy of Belle Vue Coaches had a face lift and now appear emblazoned by the adverts showing our sport in the North West.  The routes that you might spot the vehicle on are Stockport and/or Manchester-centric.  Moss Side Volleyball Club stated: “wow. volleyball marketing on a bus in the UK“.  IBB Polonia liked the initiative.  Volleyball England Foundation stated: “Great to see innovative ways to promote Volleyball. Stockport Volleyball Club in partnership with Kappa are now on the side of a bus being driven around the city.”

Blue Skies over Stockport

With the coronavirus ravaging our health, well-being and livelihoods, it is fantastic to share with you a great news story.  Stockport Volleyball Club, affectionately known as “the S’PORT”, is delighted to have been awarded a generous grant to enable an additional outdoor court and indoor volleyball court to be established in the Borough.  This has only been made possible through the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund (MACTF).

The MACTF is a registered charity and was established to promote, enhance, improve and protect both the natural and built environment in our local community.  On the current pandemic, it says: “During this extraordinary and difficult time, we know community groups large and small will be challenged with the current COVID-19 and moved in ways that seemed unimaginable just weeks ago. The Trustees at Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund would like to assure groups that our first priority is to continue to support people and communities through our funding in the best way we can.”

Chairman, at the S’PORT who received the notification said: “We are absolutely delighted by the news – this will bring so much joy to the existing and future participants to our sport locally.  We will endeavour to start collating all evidence as required to be fully compliant with the terms of the award. Thank you Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund”.

the S’PORT vlog 7 – Dame Sarah Storey #cycling #swimming and Sue Storey #volleyball

2 sides to every Storey!

These girls definitely can, stealing a phrase from the Sport England campaign.  Honoured today, to share the stage with such inspirational women within the sports industry.  Sarah is the most successful female British Paralympian of all time. Her achievements also include being a 29-time World champion (6 in swimming and 23 in cycling), a 21-time European champion (18 in swimming and 3 in cycling) and holding 75 world records. Wow! She is joined on the S’PORT vlog podcast with the leader of volleyball in England, and Chief Executive to the National Governing Body for that sport, Sue Storey – as well as Director and Trustee with its charitable arm, the Volleyball England Foundation.

These ‘sporting genies’ open up to interviewer, Adrian Stores, on topical matters including: challenges to the sport, reincarnation within competitions, tips for females in achieving careers and what’s next for each of them?

Of enjoyment to anyone interested in swimming, cycling or volleyball – sponsored by: www.acrobatfcsm.com.

Volley Round The World

Volleyball England threw down the gauntlet and asked Stockport Volleyball Club to take part in a social media ‘chain reaction’. Well this is what it came up with. #staysafe #volleyballfamily #coronavirus 2020
