Free Pints and Pies
In January 2023, Oldham fans travelled to Dorking in the National League and, courtesy of the Dorking Wanderers Manager and Owner Marc White, all Oldham fans could expect free drinks.
Marc White said Oldham was his “favourite day” of the season despite the result (which was 3-2 to Oldham) and said he loved how the Oldham Fans paraded the Rothwell’s Family who had just taken charge of the Club.
This was also a huge milestone for the ambitious Dorking Wanderers as the game was there first ever televised game. Dorking Wanderers was a club who started from scratch and started football in the 5th division of the Crawley and District football League and transferred to the West Sussex Football League after a season. The Club has got the most promotions in British Football History and they started from the scratch at the bottom of the barrel of Sunday League and made 12 promotions in 23 years to get to the National League being a division away from the English Football League.
In return to this Oldham returned the favour by giving Dorking fans a pint and a pie to show there regards back to them for their kind gesture in their previous game. Here two wholesome gestures have helped these two clubs build a bond and a friendship.
